Dr. Gili Zivan, Executive Director of the Yaacov Herzog Center
A member of Kibbutz Saad, Gili Zivan is a veteran Jewish educator, specializing recently in social issues and public dialogue concerning Israeli and Jewish culture. In 2003, Dr. Zivan, together with Sharon Leshem-Zinger of the Kolot BaNegev Midrasha, was awarded the Marc and Henia Liebhaber Prize for Promotion of Religious Tolerance and Cultural Pluralism in Israel. Active in advancing the status of women in Judaism and Israeli society. Her new book, "Religion Without Illusion - Facing a Post-Modern World," has just been published.
Tova Ilan, President of the Yaacov Herzog Center
A member of Kibbutz Ein Tzurim since 1951, Tova Ilan established and directed the Yaacov Herzog Center for Jewish Studies in Kibbutz Ein Tzurim from 1987-2001. One of the leaders of the idea of pluralism in religious-Zionist thought, she is the recipient of many prizes: the Liberman Prize for Education; the Agerst Prize for Jewish Culture; the "Beyachad" Prize for work in bringing different ethnic communities closer together; etc. She serves on many committees and forums, among them the Steering Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Orthodox Women; the Forum for the Advancement of Tolerance and Pluralism in Religious Education; a member of the Council of Governmental Religious Education; a member of the "Yachad" Council [Relations between Ultra-Religious, Religious and Secular Jews], sponsored by the President of Israel; etc.
